Working from information and drawings provided by Aston Martin Racing, JWA has produced amongst other items set-up wheels and flat patches for the Vantage GT2. All of the design and machining for the equipment was produced in-house by the team making full use of the team’s experience and expertise in motorsport component manufacturing.
Such an area has been an integral part of JWA’s business since its inception a decade ago and the company has forged a reputation as a leader in this field, not least in the historic restoration community.
“There’s no doubt that having both the capacity and the capability to produce some of our own race gear is a big advantage,” stated Team Principal James Watt. “Obviously we’re going to hit the ground running when we take delivery of the Vantage GT2 and we’ll be against the clock to shakedown the car and get it ready for its Le Mans Series debut at Silverstone. With that in mind we wanted to be as prepared as we could so we’ve been busy manufacturing our own set-up gear amongst other pieces to help us be ready for our first tests.”
He continued; “I’m pleased to say we’ve achieved all our design and production targets ahead of time and we can’t wait to hit the track. We’ll then be able to apply the same methodology to developmental parts for the actual race car when we have the requirement. Engineering is close to my heart and its part of the foundation on which JWA’s built. We have a reputation for quality design and manufacturing so it’s important that we use ourselves as a platform for that as well as our many motorsport customers.”
Details on JWA’s first tests with the 4.5-litre, V8-powered Aston Martin Vantage GT2 will be posted online so please check back for regular updates.
